God show me magic - Bill is back

Former KLF star BILL DRUMMOND is to launch a new exhibition called 'HOW TO BE AN ARTIST' in LONDON tonight (October 26).

In a press release, the star describes the concept as something which has "evolved into a journey, a book, an exhibition and a performance, all sharing the same title".

The full press release explains:

"In 1995 Bill Drummond bought a piece of work by his favourite contemporary artist, Richard Long, for $20,000. It was a photograph called 'A Smell Of Sulphur In The Wind'. Now hes using it to investigate price, meaning, value and exactly what role art should play in our lives.

"Bill hung 'A Smell Of Sulphur In The Wind' on his bedroom wall and was very pleased. Five years later he realised that he no longer had any sort of relationship with what had been his favourite work of art, so he decided to do something about it. So far this doing something about it has evolved into a journey, a book, an exhibition and a performance, all sharing the same title, How To Be An Artist.

"These forthcoming shows are the first performances of this fascinating show and exhibition in London after successful runs throughout the UK over the past 18 months.

"Warning: There is nothing in this exhibition or performance that can be construed as a step-by-step guide to being and artist of any kind."

The exhibition, which is not suitable for those under the age of 16, takes place at the artsdepot, 5 Nether Street, Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley in north London. Performances take place from October 26-28, November 1-4 and 8-11. Tickets are 10, and can be purchased from the box office on 020 8449 0048.
