KLF Kickoff Their Bid For France98

By - (30 January, 1998, Scottish Sun)

Wacky chart toppers KLF are being lined up to pen the Scotland Squad's official World Cup anthem.

Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty, who once torched 1 million in cash as a publicity stunt, are holding hush-hush talks with the SFA over the France'98 disc.

Band spokesman Mick Houghton said last night:" The SFA approached Bill to see if he would do the record and they've had meetings about it."

"He supported Rangers for years, but changed his allegiance to Stranraer which is his local side, and would love to do the anthem."

Bill even wants to hold the launch party at the Division Two side's Stair Park ground.

The band, now called K2. are planning a new project-a 150ft pyramid at Loch Ness to mark the millennium.
