1994, HOW WAS IT FOR YOU?

By Julian Brown (March 1994, Select)

What do I want for 1994? Well you asked...

JANUARY - Select sees through the new wave of new wave just in time to stop Justine from Elastica's famously wealthy dad buying up all traces of The Undertones and allowing history to see her band as completely original

FEBRUARY - David Cavanagh arrested by the coherency police for his sleeve notes to 'Highway 61 Revisited' on its re-release

MARCH - Zeitgeist confirmed as the new spirit of the times, until their thunder is stolen by the Ryan Giggs Group

APRIL - Number of vitriolic but sad letter writers failing to become music journalists tops the million mark.

MAY - Select typewriters involved in tragic KLF situationist experiment! The resulting contamination replaces all traces of self-concious post-modern irony with genuine gut emotion, creating a race of super-journos operating under the banner, Honesty kills all unwanted Pop Tarts dead.
